In Miles Electric, local independent choreographers Nicole Gifford and Melanie Palmer mirror in movement the unapologetic fusion of Miles Davis’ electric period.

But before the work receives its world premiere by Nicole Gifford Dance, audiences can get a free sneak peak August 6 at 6 p.m. in the Chicago Cultural Center’s Dance Studio, 78 E. Washington St.

It’s part of Dance Bridge, a works-in-progress program that provides free rehearsal space to selected dance artists. Set to live music, Miles Electric melds modern dance with ballroom and contemporary partner dances to reflect the late musician’s interest in traversing different genres, from jazz to rock.
