Talkin’ Miles: Vinyl Fever

- Ken Shane (PopDose) goes digging in the vinyl crates and comes up with the classic E.S.P. “It wasn’t until years later that I came to appreciate the awesome talent assembled for this record,” writes Shane.
- At Vinyl Habit I happened upon two, great album cover shots of Miles & Monk at Newport and Miles Davis & Thelonius Monk. The site has a nice selection, especially if you like classic album covers photographed from interesting angles.
- Daniel Edlen’s vinyl art of Miles Davis, inspired by an Anton Corbijn photo (scroll down a little). Cool site for all kinds of vinyl artwork.
- A comprehensive and interesting review of In A Silent Way courtesy Michael Fremer at musicangle.
- Living With Music. Dropping in at #3 on writer Jerry Stahl’s top ten is Miles Davis’ score to Ascenseur de la Chaffeud. Writes Stahl: “According to the liner notes, Miles improvised this on the spot, while watching Jeanne Morreau noir it up. The theme is so haunting, so effective at conveying the desperate, end-of-the-line joy of doomed couples in black-and-white movies.”
